"Milk donation is incredibly important to us because my nieces — Sadie’s cousins — were born premature and spent 86 days in the NICU before finally coming home. During that time, I learned not only how resilient babies can be, but how strong mothers truly are. Motherhood is a journey, and it takes a village to raise a baby. Milk donation helps support other mothers in our village. Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps save lives. We’re grateful to help other mothers in need and hope others will be inspired to do the same."

"Thank you NYMB for making it possible to help fellow NICU babies and for providing mothers with another option to feed their babies."

"Gideon was born 6 weeks early and spent two weeks in the NICU. We know first hand how stressful a NICU stay can be. We feel grateful to have the opportunity to help support NICU babies and their families in any way possible."

"Donating milk is important to me because I understand the fear and worry some mothers may face due to not being able to produce milk, or having an undersupply. I was there. The first few weeks, I was struggling to supply milk for my baby and had to use donor milk. In fact, my baby’s first milk was donated milk. This is my way to say thank you to all the moms that helped me get through those rough weeks."

"I hope this letter reaches you in good health and high spirits. First and foremost, congratulations! I would like to express my deepest admiration and respect for the incredible journey you are about to embark on as a parent to your newest bundle(s) of joy. My family line is full of women who love to cook, not for themselves, but for their friends and family. Sharing a meal with others is a sacred experience that transcends the simple act of nourishment; it is a profound expression of love and selflessness. As a mother, providing the best nourishment I can for my baby brings me so much joy and I would like to be able to help others do the same. Just as a well-prepared meal can bring joy to a family gathering, donated breast milk can bring comfort and nourishment to infants and families in need."

"We are so grateful to the milk bank and all of the mothers who have donated. You literally saved his life and Linus wouldn’t be where he is today without you!"

"This was such an incredibly rewarding experience for me. The NICU is part of my family’s story—my daughter spent 44 days there, and my son spent 23. This was my way of giving back."

"It was so important to me to donate because our premature boys received donor milk in the NICU for their first few days until my supply came in. I never thought I'd have a surplus with twins, but my freezer stash grew and grew. Then, both our boys were diagnosed with milk protein allergies so they couldn't have anything I had pumped and stored. I'm so happy I'm able to pay it forward."

"I’m donating my breast milk to help support little babies and their Mums during a tough time. Women’s bodies are truly amazing and I hope that my milk will help another family. I was raised to help others in need and I want to pass that example on to my daughter at an early age, and to give something back to a fellow New Yorker!"

"Hello, I’m Fátima. As a mother, I often think about so many moms who, for various reasons, are unable to breastfeed their babies. I realize how blessed I am, and that inspires me to donate breast milk. When I learned that my milk would help premature and sick babies, I felt even more committed and motivated to donate."

"To me, donating means helping those who need it most and, above all, supporting those who, for some reason or circumstance, are unable to breastfeed their baby. If God gave me that privilege, it is an act of love to give to others, especially to the little angels we call children... Beings of light and life."

"Both of my boys were NICU babies and while I was lucky enough to produce milk for them, I know not every mother can. I love that I am able to give those moms that option when so many things are out of their control."

"Madelyn turns 1 on 7/11 and this year she decided to make a donation to the milk bank to help feed babies in need. We donated over 800 ounces of milk while she was nursing and unfortunately my supply dropped now that we are expecting another, but we are hoping to make more donations in the coming year! Thank you to the NYMB and Maddie wants to say thank you for taking care of all the babies!"

"All of the milk I donated was from July, when Solomon was in the NICU and unable to feed by mouth for a week when my milk was coming in quickly. He was born with esophageal atresia with tracheoesophageal fistula and had surgery on his first day of life. Luckily, the week after most of this milk was pumped he was able to breastfeed and took to it like a CHAMP right away, and has been a voracious eater ever since. We have plenty of leftovers for him. I am so happy I was able to help out other babies in the NICU, and hope this milk will help - especially because it's from my early post partum days so it should be nice and fatty for the young babies."
